As a kitten living in the mangroves surrounding  a small airport, you grew up knowing about humankind and the overall importance of avoiding it. You were taught that people contradicted the otherwise Absolute Truth that the world is made up of creatures who want to eat you, and creatures who want to be eaten by you (the latter sometimes pretend they don't, as a result of which they often have to be caught first).

This Absolute Truth seemed easy enough to understand, and felt like a very practical way of seeing the world. As such, you were happy to accept it and live by it, carefully avoiding people and questioning its simple logic. However, by the time you lost your fifth life to some cursed crocodile, you started wondering if there wasn't an easier way to live.

You were hiding in the shade of some oversized plant, quietly pondering your mid-existence crisis, when you overheard two humans talk. Uncharacteristically, you decided to stick around and listen to their conversation. They were waiting to get inside the airport, to reach a place they called The Gate. You listened more closely and noticed that all humans were trying to get to The Gate, from which you surmised that The Gate must be a very desirable place to be.

And being the cat that you are, you obviously deserved nothing less than to live in the most desirable place possible.

You looked at the humans heading inside, thinking that  through the clever use of your looks, stealth, claws, speed and the occasional stroke of good luck, there was no way you could not make your way to The Gate. But of course that meant being near humans, those creatures who defy the Absolute Truth. You would have to go in not knowing friend from foe. Could The Gate be worth it?

Well, with four lives left and as much smugness as the next cat at your disposal, you are willing to break into the airport and find out for yourself.

Airport Cat is a simple one-pager solo journaling RPG build around the Caltrop Core SRD. In order to play this game you will need:

Lovely! My cat was superb, very agile, gracile, and fast; he only failed once during the adventure. Unfortunately, he felt a little disappointed when he reached the gate... Cat things, you know... Your writing is great. Congratulations, Stéphanie!

Thank you! Sadly it is the fate of most cats to be disappointed, since nothing else in this world can come close to their own greatness.

This is such a cute concept! I’m a longtime fan of the Warriors books and I’m using some downtime at work to do a few playthroughs of this game using some of the important characters from those. Very enjoyable to think as a cat for a bit! The luck points mechanic has gotten my cat out of a real jam a couple times already.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write, I’m thrilled you are having a good time with it!
